Book Cover Design: Custom vs. Pre Made Covers

When youre self-publishing a book, there are tons of details —big and small — that you have to work out before you have a finished product. Who will edit your book? How will you promote it? Will you print your book or publish it in an eBook format?

One of the most important decisions during this time, however, is how you want your book cover to look. Don’t judge a book by its cover is a popular adage, but people do this all the time. Your book cover is the first impression you will make with readers. In today’s digital world, that impression is often made from a tiny thumbnail image, making unique and readable cover design even more important.

At Castelane, cover design is at the heart of our services, and we offer two different book design options to help you make a choice that puts your books best face forward while staying within your budget.

Custom Book Covers

Custom book covers allow you to buy a cover thats as unique as your book. When you order a custom book cover, you work with a designer to make a book cover that communicates your books themes in an attractive and salable way. You can purchase a design package for an eBook cover, which includes a full-scale PDF, a large Web jpg and a thumbnail jpg for the eBook store, or a package designed specifically for a printed book, which includes a print-ready PDF, a large Web jpg for the eBook version of your book and a thumbnail jpg of the front cover.

Stock Book Covers

For a budget-friendlier way to give your book a stunning face, we also offer pre-made book covers for eBooks. This option provides unique cover art with customizable fonts. We have dozens of covers in every genre, so you can be sure to find one that suits your book. These covers use royalty-free images with stylish and readable fonts to help sell your book online. As soon as you purchase your book cover, we remove it from our site. Never see another title with your cover!
